We roast the tomatoes until the skins char, then the jalapeños, the way a backyard grill does it on a Saturday. Sunrise Pantry began as the salsa friends asked us to bring to every cookout in Austin; now it is hot-filled in a licensed kitchen, lot-coded, and on the shelf at a neighborhood co-op. Salsa Verde came next, for the people who asked for something brighter.
