For cottage food associations

Your state’s page, in your name

For a state cottage food association and the home cooks it serves. Every member asks the same things: what the state lets them sell, how the label must read, and when they have outgrown the law. ShelfStep walks each maker through those questions, and it puts your state’s answers on one page under your association’s name.

What you get

  • Your state’s pageA public page in your association’s name: what your state’s cottage food law allows and does not, the label lines it requires, where members may sell, and what to do when a business outgrows it. Each line cites the state’s own page and the date it was checked. Under it, your members’ published products. For the lines themselves, see Indiana’s, as ShelfStep writes them.
  • A code for your membersOne code for your newsletter, your website or a meeting. A member’s workspace admin enters it and agrees, once, to what you will see. Nobody joins by clicking an email.
  • Your own requirementsA food handler card, a registration on file, whatever your association asks of its members. Each member ticks them in their own workspace, and you see who has done which, and when.
  • A member catalog and a printed rosterOne public page with every product your members have chosen to publish, under your name, and the roster with each member’s counts and ticks, on paper.

What you see, and what you never see

You see

Each member’s workspace name. How many products, published listings, lots and deliveries they have. Which of your requirements they have ticked, and when. How many rules apply to them and how many questions are still open.

You never see

A member’s recipe, costs and prices, buyers, contacts, receipts, lot codes, documents, orders or messages. A member can leave at any time; you stop seeing everything, and nothing of theirs is deleted.

How to start

Ask to be set up: send your association’s name, your state, your website and roughly how many members you have. ShelfStep sets up the program and sends you the code.
