Makers arrive ready
For a co-packer or a commissary that makes food for small brands. Makers who reach you through ShelfStep keep their product written down in one place: the formula, the process, the label. So the first email can carry a spec sheet instead of a question about where to begin.
What you get
- A place in ShelfStep’s directoryMakers at the co-packer step look here, by the states you serve. The directory says who you are and what you make. It does not rank anyone or recommend anyone; the maker decides.
- A spec sheet with the first emailA maker can send you their spec sheet from ShelfStep: product and pack, ingredients, allergens, storage and shelf life, on one page. A blank says “not stated” rather than guessing.
- A packet for a quoteOne document from the maker’s own records: the spec, the volume they expect over a year, and the process as their Process Authority’s letter states it.
- A ten-minute quote pageA link in the email opens the packet and six boxes: price per unit at their volume, minimum run, lead time, setup fee, what you need from them, and a note. No account. Your answer lands on the maker’s side, beside any others.
- Your listing, in your handsClaim your entry to keep your own description, the states you serve, your minimum run and whether you are taking new makers, and see how many makers opened it and asked for a quote each month.
What you see, and what you never see
Only what a maker chooses to send you: a spec sheet, a quote packet, and anything they write to you themselves. In the quote packet, a recipe comes only if the maker ticks the box to include it, and then as ingredient names and percentages.
A maker’s recipe in grams, their costs, their buyers or their orders. The makers who looked at your listing but did not write to you stay unnamed.
How to start
Ask to be listed: send your business name, website, the states you serve, what you make and your minimum run.
Already in the directory? Use “Claim it” on your entry, or the link in any quote request a maker sends you: ShelfStep sends a link to an address at your own web domain, or to the one we hold for you.
